You can petition the court to modify the custody arrangement if there has been a material and substantial change in circumstances. You need a family law attorney to help you with that. If by losing custody, you mean your parental rights were terminated, there is nothing you can do.

How do I find my ex boyfriend who is hiding my child from me?

Answered 12 years ago by Ms. Joanna Marie Mitchell (Unclaimed Profile)   |   3 Answers   |  Legal Topics: Child Custody
The police won't do anything because it is a civil matter, not a criminal one. You need to file a legal action to have a Judge Order the child returned to you. I strongly suggest that you immediately consult with an attorney in order to make sure everything is done properly.

Good. It's about time. You should have done this as soon as the child was born. You need an appropriate parenting plan so the child is not a football to be passed around. If you tell (in writing) the court about her crack habit and ask the court to order an substance evaluation, the court will order it and will limit contact with the mother. Get some legal help so you put everything before the court that needs to be there.... Read More

They can file a third party custody action if they can show that neither parent is a fit parent. If that is proven than any one of them can have custody of the baby. The state will only take the baby is there is a reasonable fear of harm to the child.... Read More
