As a white person, you are not a part of a protected class so you probably don't have a discrimination claim as defined by the federal Civil Rights laws. Also, the store would not be the entity to address that type of claim. However, you have more common claims like assault, both criminal and civil. Did you report the assault to the police? If so, you can press your assault and battery claims in the criminal court. You may also press your claims in a civil suit against the woman as well as the store. ... Read More

Can I represent my husband in an human resources complaints

Answered 11 years and 3 months ago by Joseph Francisco Botelho (Unclaimed Profile)   |   1 Answer
It all depends on where the complaint is being brought. If it's being brought in a company, then you may have to follow the company's bylaws or certain union rules. Certain government agencies such as HUD, allow non-attorneys to to represent complaintants. If it's in a court of law, you absolutely must be an attorney to represent someone.   I have responded to your inquiry according to the laws of Massachusetts, where my firm is located. Laws can vary significantly from state to state and cases tend to be rather fact-specific, so you are best served by consulting with a knowledgeable attorney in weighing your options. Email messages/Online Correspondence are akin to conversations and do not reflect the level of analysis applied to formal legal opinions. Email/Online responses do not form an attorney-client relationship.   Joseph F.
