Your best option would be to have the felony expunged(removed) from your record. Once that is done you can have your rights to own a gun restored. You can request that your right to own a gun be allowed without the expungement but that is the best way to clear your record and increase your chances of being successful in your request. I highly recommend that you find a local attorney to help you through this process.... Read More

Sounds like you were actually convicted, not put on a deferred probationary status. If so, the purpose of the probation years was simply to keep a short lease on you while not requiring you to be behind bars the entire length of your sentence. Contact the attorney who represented you for further information.... Read More

No, you would most likely not be eligible for an expungement since the first criterion they usually look at is whether all punishment has been completed, and as you have not paid your fines, you have not completed your punishment.

Expungments are done without charge in only a very specific circumstance. If your case was dismissed, that is, you did not plead guilty or were found guilty at trial, your arrest can be expunged with no charge to you. What that boils down to is that the prosecutor for whatever reason decided not to prosecute your case. ... Read More

The quick answer is no, you can't have your charge expunged. The reason is that you cannot have a charge expunged until three years after you officially end probation, so you will have to wait until 2020 before the charge can be expunged. Another thing to consider is that felonies can only be expunged in very specific circumstances. You must have been sentenced under the youthful offender act or the court will not order an expungement. Even then, only certain felonies can be expunged. ... Read More

There is a process for expungement from FBI records. It starts with the Connecticut court system. Specific forms have to be supplied to the Bureau. You can start by calling the FBI to verify their records have been expunged (the court system or state police should have sent the information). However, be aware that if your arrest was noted anywhere such as an article or a "police blotter", including a local, hometown type, newspaper, there is a record of it. Anyone can search the internet and find back copies of the paper listing the arrest. There is probably almost no way to expunge all records from the internet. There may be services claiming to be able to do so, but investigate them carefully to make sure they can deliver what they promise.... Read More
