Answered 12 years and 3 months ago by Stephen Paul Levine (Unclaimed Profile)   |   2 Answers   |  Legal Topics: Expungements
If you are lucky enough to receive one of very few pardons granted by the Governor the conviction still stands but all civil rights are restored and the record reflects the pardon. How can my background be completely erased not just expunged?

Answered 12 years and 3 months ago by Andrea Rogers (Unclaimed Profile)   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Expungements
You can't "completely erase" the convictions in your criminal background. There are only a few types of felony convictions in Missouri that can be expunged, and only after 20 years of good behavior. Those felonies are 1) passing a bad check, 2) fraudulently stopping payment on an instrument, and 3) fraudulent use of a debit or credit device. You have to file a petition in court and attend a hearing before a judge. It's up to the judge regarding whether to expunge the felony conviction. You can file the petition yourself without an attorney, but your best bet for success is to hire an attorney to handle it for you.... Read More

Can I get a domestic violence conviction expunged from my record?

Answered 12 years and 3 months ago by attorney Ernest Lee, Sr.   |   2 Answers   |  Legal Topics: Expungements
Most times a conviction may be expunged, including those for domestic violence. I see where the Justice department accessing your records previously was one of your concerns. Please be aware that even when an offense is expunged some law enforcement agencies may still have access to your pre-expungement record. However, I would not think that a misdemeanor domestic violence charge, once expunged, should prevent you from exercising your 10th amendment right to bear arms.... Read More
