Can I move a minor child out of state during a divorce?

Answered 14 years and 5 months ago by attorney Patricia A. Kasody-Coyle   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Family

You can file a motion with Circuit Court in the county where you reside and ask the Judge to change the baby's name.  This will likely be granted if the father does not object or is not involved with the child.  You must notify the father of your request and notify him of the court date. This response is general in nature and is legal advice.  No attorney client relationship is formed by this response.... Read More

The rules of ethics that bind lawyers give you the absolute right to change lawyers.  The lawyer client relationship requires a degree of trust that could allow nothing less.  You have your lawyer act on your behalf, and you have to trust what is being done.
