I do not believe there is anything they can do. If they want to return you, they would need to get a court order and if they even try, the judge will most likely respect your wishes and not theirs.    Best of luck!  Leena Yousefi YLaw Group

If my mom stole my car and it was a gift four years ago, can I do anything?

Answered 10 years and 7 months ago by James Eugene Hasser (Unclaimed Profile)   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Family
My guess is your mom is title holder, which gives her apparent authority to sell the car. Depending on what the car is worth, you'll need to request an injunction in either District Court or Circuit Court, asking that the sale be stopped. If you choose that route, you really need to get a lawyer. Alternatively, you may just have to sue her for the value of the car. Again, which court you sue in depends on how much the car is worth. If it's within the amount for Small Claims Court, you may be able to sue there without a lawyer. However, you probably will want to consult a lawyer on this no matter which way you go. Good luck.... Can my husband be legally held to the divorce agreement from 12 years ago?

Answered 12 years and 7 months ago by Mark T. Peters, Sr. (Unclaimed Profile)   |   4 Answers   |  Legal Topics: Family
If it is a court order, sure he can be held to it. The court may not hold him in contempt because of an inability to pay, but if was ordered to do it, then he must comply.

Many family law attorneys offer free consultations.  Try to get one.  There also may be a way for you to get an attorney for free or for a reduced rate.  Check with your local courthouse or bar association.  Good luck!

If you are willing to take the child into your home, you can petition for custody in the Juvenile Court in county in which the child resides.  Or you could go with the child to DHR and they might open up an investigation and file a similar motion with the court.
