Your case sounds unusual; years ago, it wasn't unusual that a lawsuit would take around 3 years; in the last 10-15 years, cases are handled much more efficiently and are usually resolved in the space of a year to 18 months. I am specifically referring to cases in Wisconsin. You place a lot of blame on the defense attorney for the continued delays, but what advice is your own lawyer providing to you on the reason your case is being dragged out or the delays caused by defense counsel? Most judges in my experience are very concerned about moving their calendars in an efficient, expeditions way and would not tolerate continued and inexcusable delays. I don't know anything about the substantive issues of your case such as how the accident happened, what your damages may be or why it is taking this long to resolve. Ordinarily, you are only deposed once, not twice or three times. Has the judge set mediation  to try to resolve your case? Have there been any offers on your case? I would suggest you have your case reviewed by another personal injury lawyer; lawyers are under an ethical duty to reasonably process their cases in an expeditious fashion without undue delays and to reasonably keep their clients informed of all the details of the case.
