I handle malpractice cases in Georgia and Florida.  Georgia used to have statute that placed caps on the amount a jury could award as damages in a medical malpractice case.  However, several years ago the Georgia Supreme Court ruled that the one-size-fits-all damage cap violated the Georgia Constitution.  An appeallate Court may still conclude that any particular verdict is so high that it shocks the conscience and should be reduced, but it is on a case-by-case basis and there is no set cap on any case. In order for you to have a med mal case you need to be able to show that the opperating doctor went against standard opperating procedure or in some way did not meet the standard of care. Sorry, but absent objective cooroboration, such allegations get little to no traction simply because your bare testimony is not credible. Espcially the notion of a psychiatrist hiding you from a Marchman Act Order as this would asily cost them thier license and expose them to incarceration.
