Unfortunately, even if your doctor marked you as permanently exempt, many Texas counties don’t automatically remove people from the jury-duty pool. The local jury administration office or county clerk typically controls the master jury list, and the medical exemption form only applies to the specific summons you received, not future ones. That’s why you keep getting new notices. To reduce the chances of being summoned again, contact your county’s jury services department directly (their number should be on your summons). Ask them to keep your doctor’s note and to flag your record for permanent exemption under Texas Government Code § 62.109, which allows exemption for physical or mental impairments that make jury service impossible or very difficult. If the clerk won’t honor the permanent exemption, you may need to resubmit the form each time you’re called. It’s frustrating, but you’re not being singled out—the system doesn’t always update automatically. Keeping a copy of your doctor’s letter on file will make the process easier each time.... Read More

I am assuming your claim involved medical expenses - if I am right then my first reaction is ten days for the attorney to have satisfied and obtained releases for all medical expense claims especially if any were paid by any government agency would be near record time.  Once a bit more time has passed I suggest you find your state's equivalent of what is here in Pennsylvania  the Pennsylvania Lawyers Fund for Client Security which acts on clients' behalf to recover funds a dishonest lawyer keeps from a client.  You might want to send a letter (not just call) to the lawyer advising him or her that if you do not receive your funds or a detailed accounting for the funds received on your case you will report him or her to the State Bar.  A lawyer can face serious discipline for keepinf client money so this threat will get his or her attention.... You would most likely require a joint financial sponsor. You can attempt to act alone, but most likely the USCIS will forward you a request for evidence and require you to engage a joint sponsor. This could be anybody that is a US citizen or green card holder living in the United States that will meet the minimum income threshold under the poverty guidelines that is willing to help you.    ... Can i sue a social worker at a rehab center

Answered 4 years and 10 months ago by attorney Hon. Max L Rosenberg   |   1 Answer
Mr. Hensley,  I don't think you have a cause of action against the social worker.  I can not advise you on the conservator matter as I am conflicted out from giving probate advice due to my being a Probate Judge. However, my partner Christopher Hite can answer those questions provided this is not a case in Stratford.  Please feel free to contact us. 203.870.6700.... Read More

How do I evict my nephew who doesn't pay rent

Answered 5 years and 5 months ago by attorney Hon. Max L Rosenberg   |   1 Answer
You must file a summary process case against him and treat him like a tenant.  Due to the ongoing pandemic, I would highly suggest speaking with an experienced landlord/tenant attorney who is aware of all of the new protocol that is currently in play. My law partner Attorney Christopher Hite is such an attorney at my firm. Please feel free to contact him for more information 203.870.6700. Thank you.... Read More

can i sure a dealer ship for a defect car

Answered 6 years and 7 months ago by attorney Hon. Max L Rosenberg   |   1 Answer
You can sue anyone for anything but you have the burden of proving your case.  Without a warranty, I am not sure what your options for recovery are without seeing all the paperwork that you signed and/ or recieved.  Were there other problems with the car? Did you get a carfax?  Was it a certified used vehicle?  There are not a lot of attorneys who take cases like this.  I would mention Daniel Blinn in Rocky Hill and Sergei Lemberg in Stamford.  Two different ends of the state.  They are both very good at these types of matters.  Feel free to contact me as well for more information. ... J1, J2 visa Stamp renewal

Answered 6 years and 8 months ago by attorney Hon. Max L Rosenberg   |   1 Answer
The J2  is dependent upon the status of the principal J-1 holder and is only able to apply for a work permit after arriving in the United States.  He may remain in the United States as long as the principal J-1 Visa holder has valid J-1 status. I think that if he wants to apply for a new status, it will have to be as something other than J2 since that is bound to your J-1.  ... Read More

This is a terrible idea.  As soon as this relationship becomes sexual in nature, he is breaking the law.  That means if either of them undress on camera, discuss sexual matters in a sexual way.  Suffice to say, an 18 year old has no business with anyone under the age of 16 (the age of consent).  I don't even understand what an 18 year old could possibly have in common with a middle schooler.  Not to put too fine a point on this, but if your "friend" wants to avoid trouble they will break off the "relationship" immediately.  Again, at 18, your friend should be going to work or to college and the 13 year old has not even gone through puberty.  Its just plain WRONG...
