If you were never SERVED with the law suit, then you may be able to get the judgment set aside if you can show that service was never made.  You will likely need an attorney to investigate the Return of Service and file a Motion to Set Aside Default Judgment.  If the Return of Service looks proper, then you will have to prove that you were NOT served, which is sometimes hard.  It will be best if you can prove that you were somewhere else on the date and time of service. However, this process will take a fair amount of time.  If you actually owe the debt, reaching a settlement may be your cheapest, fastest option.  Even if the judgment is set aside, you may still have to deal with the debt depending upon how old it is.... This could be a collection violation if they are claiming you owe more money than you do ornot giving you credit for payments made. If so, you might be able to sue them for $1,000.00 damages and make them pay the legal fees.

Yep - pay the money unless you want to spend more trying avoid a foreclosure. It was your mistake by not paying what you owed, so this can be avoided in the future.

Recover the expenses from whom and how? You may need to hire a lawyer to address having the vehicle lawfully towed or disposed of as abandoned.  If you know the owner the easiest thing is to find them and deal with them directly - not indirectly with published notices in news papers. ... Read More

"I have spoken to 5 lawyers who say I have a case, but they don't have the time." Let me clarify for you - that is garbage politically correct speak for "You're case sucks but if I am nice to you maybe you wll hire me on real case later". There are ZERO lawyers that will come across "a good case" and simply let it go without at least a referral to a lawyer to get a referral fee.  This is DOUBLY true if you made clear that you are willing to pay them a REALISTIC retainer/hourly rate to do so. By realisitic you need to understand that the amount you will spend on legal fees will likely exceed the amount in controversy of $601.00. IF what you are looking for is a lawyer to take on a small billing or C/S problem that you spent 100 hours dealing with on a contingent fee where they only get paid when and if they win - THAT is why you get the "great case - too busy" response. If you are intent on fighting this, which is perfectly appropriate as many banks engage in numerous shady practices to skim money, you may want to pay the money in dispiute with a letter explaining the payment under protest and duress and then try to sue them later for a refund. This minimizes the exposure of involiking an expensive and complicated foreclosure action over this issue or damage to your credit. ... Read More

Actually the car WAS yours as you signed for the car and it was presmably in your name. You made a terrible fiancial choice and sadly now have to live with the results. You can talk to a bankruptcy lawyer about that option if you have other debts, otherwise yo may need to hire a lawyer to work out a payment plan to address what will likely become and a negative credit reporting on your credit and eventually a lawsuit against you for the balance. ... Not likely no.
I was out of the country and didnt attend alone does NOT mean you don't have financial liabilities for the tuition. There may be other factors like your providing proper notice and cancellation policies. If this is a private loan you might have more recourse in some ways than a GBSL. You will likely have to retain a lawyer at some out of pocket expense to address this issue though given the facts. ... Read More
