In fairness to any law firm, there is only so much we can do.  We rely heavily on you to retrieve medical documentation from care providers.  We can send out requests, but don't always receive confirmation.  We like to think of this process as a team venture.  If the team works well together we put ourselves in a better overall positon for success.    Attorney Scott Bocchio President Legal Rights Advocates P 855-254-7841 www.yourlegalrightsadvocates.com  ... Yes, you should apply for SSDI benefits to see if you are eligible.
Yes, you should apply for SSDI benefits to see if you are eligible.
The Social Security administration looks at a number of factors in deciding a disability claim, including your age, education, work experience, and acquired work skills, in addition to the nature and severity of your medical problems.  For example, if you are over 50 and have a limited education, and you have not done desk work in the past, you may qualify for benefits even if you could still do a desk job, while a more educated individual with the same medical problems would likely not qualify. Because the system is complicated, it is almost always best to get help from an experienced attorney.  Most good disability lawyers will handle claims on a contingent fee, with no money up front.  Keep in mind that there are strict time limits for appealing a denial.  Don't wait!  Contact an experienced law firm today. changing social security disability venue

Like any other matter, you have a right to terminate a lawyer's representation in a Social Security Disability or SSI claim.  This can be done by writing a letter to the lawyer and sending a copy to the Social Security Administration.  You should state unequivocally that his/her services are no longer needed.  Be sure to put your social security number prominently on the letter.   In many cases, the lawyer will simply withdraw and waive any fee.  However, the lawyer could reserve the right to petition the Agency for approval of a fee for services done up until the date he/she ceased representing you.  This would have to be done shortly after a favorable decision is issued by the Agency.  If the lawyer petitions for approval of a fee, the Agency would decide the amount allowed, based on the services provided and time spent. You may also be responsible for any out-of-pocket expenses incurred by the lawyer.   We always recommend you sit down with your lawyer and have a candid conversation about your concerns before terminating his/her services, particularly if the case has been going on for some time.  If the lawyer has provided substantial services, it may be more difficult to get a new lawyer to take over the case.   MORGAN & MORGAN ATTORNEYS AT LAW, P.C. need one in paulding county

Answered 8 years and 11 months ago by attorney Mr. Lee P. Morgan   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Social Security Disability
Most attorneys that have a substantial disability practice handle cases over a wide geographic area.  It is often not necessary to come into the office.  The attorney can discuss the claim by phone and send the necessary documents to sign and return.  Should a hearing be necessary, the attorney would make arrangements to meet with the claimant in person before the hearing date, in order to fully prepare for the hearing. The most important thing to remember is this:  Get an experienced lawyer to handle the claim.  The disability claim process can be difficult, even if there is strong evidence of disability.  An experienced attorney will make sure that all necessary evidence is gathered and presented to the Agency in the most effective way.
