This is not malpractice, but an ethics issue.  Call the Monmouth County Bar, and submit an ethics grievance to the ethics committee.

I am not sure why you were not able to vacate this judgment if it was on default.  But if you made such a motion, making another, with an attorney, is harder than had you never done it at all.  I have handled these cases and it always works out.
