Everyone has to follow the court rules. Unless you have proper service of process under the court rules the ex-BF is not served. You also have to file the return of service. Bottom line, the rules are the rules and unless you follow them, the court won't help. A partition of land requires a lot of work, if you get it wrong, when the time comes, you will not be able to sell the property. Lawyers may cost money; it is the money they save you in the future that is our real value. I hope this helps. Good luck to you.... Read More

Who I have to accept papers

Looks like you are being sued. Here's the issue, if you keep ducking service, the other side gets an order for alternate service and serves you that way. The nastier sort add the costs of the motion and alternate service to the damages. There can be very good reasons to avoid service but youcan only avoid for so long.  ... Read More

Anything related to your birth records will have to be done in your county of birth; it cannot be done anywhere else because that is where you were born and that county and no other county in the US controls that record. As for Zoom, it is often available, I would call the clerk of the court in Oregon to see if you need to be personally present. If they say you have to be present, then you have to be there. Sorry if that is not convenient. Good luck.... Read More

I charged someone for a nude picture.

Answered 3 years and a month ago by attorney Gilbert Borman   |   1 Answer
If there was a written agreement between you and the person that they not forward the image or you copyrighted the image, then you could sue for damages. this is a situation where the strategic use of the words all rights reserved apply. even without a writing, an action for unjust enrichment could also succeed although the costs of the case might far exceed the damages. good luck to you... You probably need to get your own lawyer on this. You certainly can demand as a condition of attending the meeting that it be recorded on Zoom and that you get a copy of the meeting. LAwyers don't work for free and the $1500 to get your payments right is probably worth it- but if you are just going to be back at the court again in 4-6 months, if allowed, do 1 order now that adjusts to future reality so you only pay once or otherwise wait until the next change comes.   good luck!... If the lawyer has fallen off the radar, the court probably knows it. Your divorce is usually filed in the county where you live. Go to that courthouse and ask a clerk in family court to look up the case. If your lawyer is not responding, it can be because they are busy too. Before doing anything drastic, email the lawyer with your questions. If they do not reply in 7 days, there is a problem and you will have to hire another lawyer.  good luck to you... Read More

I have a officer and his wife is the judge

Answered 3 years and 9 months ago by attorney Gilbert Borman   |   1 Answer
It is not clear to me what you are asking. You seem to be describing a situation in which an officer's wife is the judge in a matter, my answer is to that fact situation: This is called a conflict of interest and the judge should recuse herself from the matter. Advise the court through a motion to recuse. If the judge refuses to recuse, appeal that decision.   Good luck... Read More

Legality of selling laser components, NOT laser diodes

Answered 3 years and 10 months ago by attorney Gilbert Borman   |   1 Answer
Certain components that can be used for nuclear and advanced weapon systems are controlled under US law. Additionally, eBay has its own rules of what can and cannot be sold (weapons are not permitted). Where you also face issues is shipping to other countries because certain goods are not permitted to be sold to Iran, N. Korea etc. One would have to know a lot more about what you are selling to advise you more. ... Read More

This does not make a lot of sense. I would suggest you call the court and ask them if the matter has been dismissed or not. Matters are either pending or they are not. Closed usually means the case itself has been ruled upon, it only refers to discovery or a time period related to a matter. ... Read More

Can i drop out of highschool at 16 in Michigan

Answered 4 years and a month ago by attorney Gilbert Borman   |   1 Answer
Do you have $300,000 that you don't need? On average, people without a High School Diploma earn that much less over their lifetimes than people who do. Have you looked at job opportunities for people with advanced skills as opposed to those without them 50 times more jobs. Perhaps the hardest thing to do in modern America today is to be young. It is not easy. So can you drop out of High School, no one can really make you go but, if you do, you are passing up on one of the best free benefits of living in the US. School can be an awful experience but, most people who strike out at a young age fail in their goals because they are not ready. My advice is the same I would give my own child: the safest smartest thing you can do for yourself is stay in school. As hard as it may be now, I promise you, that one day you will not regret getting your diploma. My sincere best wishes to you.... Read More
