It depends on what the bills are for. Your judgment may provide you are responsible for a portion of certain expenses beyond child support. Ex-wife does not have the right to create obstacles to visitation. However, ex-wife can't be held responsible for your boyfriend's travel expenses related to visitation, & he can't deduct same from child support. It was not a good idea for your boyfriend to just agree to the move without considering his visitation situation. A skilled family law attorney, like me, would need to discuss this matter w/your boyfriend in greater detail, & ask him many questions, in order to give him the complete, proper legal advice he needs, & a quote to represent him.? He should schedule a consultation ASAP. Once the matter is resolved to his satisfaction, he'll be glad he paid the money to hire an experienced attorney & properly protect his, & his daughter's, legal rights.... Read More

If the child is a resident of Texas, Texas law applies. He would have to litigate the case there unless you allow him to keep the child in Il for 6 months. So do not let him do that.

Did she adopt them? What right to custody does she have? What were you incarcerated for? If they were adopted, grandma would have to agree. If she is awarded guardianship, you can seek to terminate the guardianship, but it is no automatic.

When you say you've "had custody" of your nephew, is this by court order, or are you saying you just have had possession of your nephew?? Either way, however, it would seem that you can keep custody unless & until your sister contacts you wanting to take back custody, & if that happens, you should schedule a consultation with an experienced custody attorney.... You raise numerous issues. Wiretapping is illegal, period. Whether a civil judge will do anything about it is a different issue, and whether a States Attorney will prosecute is alsl problematic. Has Dad signed a VAP? Is he legally the father. While the child is in the midst of a safety plan a civil judge will do nothing to interfere with that safety plan. You have to clean up your language, do you best to meet what ever requirements HFS is demanding and push the issue of breast feeding as a medical necessity for the baby.... Read More

Her turning 18 does not necessarily mean your child support has ended, unless she has finished high school, so be careful. The law says, I believe, that your current level of support should remain in effect until your arrearage is paid off. Understand that your arrearage is accruing interest at 9% per annum, not an inexpensive cost. You can, of course, ask the court to modify the amount, but that could require you coming to IL and appearing before a judge. That could be more than once. That is an expense you must also consider.... Read More
