In 2014 I purchased a 2014 Toyota and traded in a BMW for about $15000, I am paying for more than double what the car cost.

This is a very common practice. What happened, in this case, is that they added the balance you had in your 2014 Toyota and added to your new BMW balance. You probably have a high-interest rate too. When I see cases like this the consumer has between 14 to 20% APR.   My suggestion in your case is to go the Credit Union and try to refinance the car.  That way you can negotiate down the interest rate.... I took my vehicle to a shop to get a tune up last Monday and when I picked it up from the shop my engine light was blinking and the car was putting and jerking as well as it kept shutting off every time I stopped. When my husband took the car back to the mechanic, the mechanic said that because he did the tune up "it intensified another issue that was wrong with the vehicle" but there wasn't anything wrong with our vehicle prior to taking it to him. He placed it on the lift looked at it and said his work was "done correctly" and that "further work would need to be done on the vehicle to get it running properly again". My husband brought the vehicle back home and the next morning we took it to another mechanic and he said that the wires for the tune up were crossed "wires 1 and 2 to be exact". he wrote this on our receipt and I took the receipt back to the local repair shop and asked him for a refund and he refused.Do I have a case against him being that he deliberately crossed my wires? Because of his mishandling of our vehicle we were forced to take it to another shop and pay them for repairs. Repairs resulting from his error to begin with and his neglect when he looked at it the second time and said he "performed the tune up correctly". He is an authorized repair shop a tune up should be a fairly easy job for him to perform therefore he should have known the job was done incorrectly when he gave it a second look if he looked at all. Is there anything I can do to get my money back from him? are there any laws in the state of New Jersey to protect us from this type of fraud?
