Possibly. This will require a lot of details about what exactly happened and why there was such a drastic premium change. If your property was mortgaged this could also be an issue with the mortgage company.

Answered 6 years and a month ago by attorney Mark Tischhauser, Esq.   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Insurance
In theory yes - whether you owe them for the services and how much is a different discussion. You probably shoudl retain an insurance LAWYER at this point understanding that you may need to pay out of pocket until the claim is fully examined.

My boyfriend hit a car with my car and heโ€™s not under my insurance . Now theyโ€™re serving me not him what do I do?

Answered 6 years and 8 months ago by Mr. Don Karotkin (Unclaimed Profile)   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Insurance
You should notify your auto insurance company about the lawsuit and send it the suit papers immediately.  Depending on what plaintiff's petition alleges against you, you may, and probably do, have insurance coverage for the lawsuit, notwithstanding the fact that your boyfriend is "not under [your] insurance."  If there is coverage for the lawsuit under the terms of your insurance policy, your insurer will be obligated to hire and pay a lawyer to defend you.  If it denies coverage, you should immediately hire a lawyer on your own.  Whether you rightfully owe money to the plaintiff or not, you have been sued, so you must timely file a properly drafted answer to the lawsuit or you will lose automatically by default.  Since you probably don't know how to draft or file an answer to a lawsuit, you'll need a lawyer to do those things for you. Good luck! ... Read More

Can I sue the funeral home for putting on my husbands death certificate that we were divorced at his death, and we are still married?

Answered 6 years and 8 months ago by Patrick Johnson (Unclaimed Profile)   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Insurance
The problem is not the funeral home but the insurance company. The death certificate is not the only document that the insurance company looks at to determine if your were married or not. I would contact the funeral home and ask them to write a letter stating that the death certificate was incorrect when it stated that you were divorced. Send that letter along with other documents establishing that you were married. If they continue to deny the claim, hire an attorney to sue the insurance company.... Read More

Thats the option of the other insurer. You can only sue the at fault party for damages not forcing repairs, so you are going to have to deal with the value of the vehicle at this point.

How do I fire a lawyer who is bullying and possibly lying to me?

Answered 7 years and 5 months ago by attorney Loren L. Gold   |   2 Answers   |  Legal Topics: Insurance
Sounds like you may have retained a firm with a large staff supporting the lawyer(s). Sometimes an insurance carrier will reach out to an attorney.  The only way to know what has/has not been done is for an attorney to review the file.
