This sounds like a classic BOD/HOA/COA battle. As such you will need to be prepared to fund an expensive litigation case out of pocket. This is NOT a case where you dangle the prospect of "big injuries" and "agony" and a personal injury lawyer flies in to make it all right on a contingent fee. This is especally true in the context of a defamation case. ... Read More

Can I sue for Slander -

You can always sue BUT such cases are rarely "contingent fee" cases where the lawyers get paid from the money they collect in damages.  Many people choose to pursue such case not with an expectation of recovering money but rather to show the otherside they aren't immune from being held responsible or being sued. ... There may be some issues here that need to be sorted out. If the police reported him a minor by name that might be of some issue, especially if the charges we based upon a later disclosed fabricated claim. The disclsoure to a co-defendant is likely of little consequence as both know who was or was not involved. The bigger issue may be a claim against the 17 y/o for the false police report/malicious prosecution type claim but it may not be usefull financially. ... Read More

Slander defamation by media

You will likely need to retain a lawyer at your expense to send a  Fla. Stat. 770 notice and go from there. This looks like it is simply an error where someone "mispoke" on air but they should air a retraction.

Answered 9 years and 10 months ago by attorney Mark Tischhauser, Esq.   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Libel, Slander And Defamation
Being humiliated with your own conduct is simply your own problem and the price you pay for poor decison making and action. There may be some potential for a claim of "intentional infliction of emotional distress" butthis may complicated by your engaging in criminal activity. You may want to retain a lawyer immediately or contact law enforcement if you feel this was some sort of threat or extortion attempt, so they can arrange for fingerpriniting of the pictures. THis may help ID the individual. ... Read More
