A revocation of his proabtion could include jail time for the remainder of his sentence.  I would suggest meeting with the attorney who handled his underlying charge asap or another attorney if that is not possible.   He will need to defend this.

It depends.  Probation is extended when there is a violation.  If he is going because of a violation or in order to avoid a violation he shouldnt check himself out.  Importantly, why would he??  The probation officer wouldnt send him to rehab to harass him, he may have a drug problem.  May be he needs rehab.... The lawyer representing your girlfriend can make an offer to the Assistant State Attorney to see if they will be willing to let her enter a program rather than serve time in jail.  Typically the terms of an agreement for rehab require the Defendant to remain in jail until a bed is available at the rehab program.  Having a program ready with a bed at the time of the plea is the best option so that your girlfriend is not waiting in jail for a bed to become available.  Unfortunately there is no guarantee that the Assistant State Attorney will agree to a rehab program.  If the Assistant State Attorney does not agree the lawyer can also ask the Judge if he/she is willing to accept a plea with the condition of completion of a inpatient rehab program rather than a jail sentence.   ... I don't know of any statistics that says that the chances of gaining parole are greater if you have an attorney. However, an attorney can make a better presentation to the parole board of the positive factors (if any) that lien toward granting parole and down playing the negative.
